The Nigerian Falconet striker, Asisat Oshoala emerged the best player as well as the highest goal scorer at the just concluded FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup which ended on Sunday in Canada in spite of the Falconets’ 0-1 defeat in the finals at the hands of Germany.
The adidas Golden boot was handed to Oshola who scored seven goals and two assists while Germany’s player, Pauline Bremer settled for the Silver boot with five goals as her teammate Sara Dabritz grabbed the Bronze boot also with five goals but with lesser number of assists.
Oshola was also handed the Golden ball for emerging the best player of the championship.
President Goodluck Jonathan has congratulated Nigeria’s Under-20 women’s football team, the Falconets, for winning the silver medal at the just concluded FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup tournament in Canada.
The president applauded the team which he observed, outplayed the Germans for long periods in the final, and also had greater ball possession and a higher number of goal attempts, for equalling Nigeria’s best-ever finish in the tournament, and, in Asisat Oshoala, producing this year’s top scorer and Most Valuable Player.
