Buhari Fires EFCC Boss, Permanent Secretaries

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Ibrahim Mustafa Magu as the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Mr. Magu, who is an Assistant Commissioner of Police, is to take over from Ibrahim Lamorde who is proceeding on terminal leave ahead of the formal expiration of his tenure in February next year.

Similarly, President Buhari has also ordered the mass retirement of permanent secretaries.

The decision is coming a day before cabinet ministers are inaugurated by the president.

PREMIUM TIMES reports that at least 17 permanent secretaries were asked to go.

Mr. Buhari made the decision known to the permanent secretaries during a meeting in his office at the presidential villa.
