The Acting Postmaster-General, Enoch Adeogun, has described the Nigeria Postal Service (NIPOST) as a unique asset critical to the achievement of socio-economic development in the country.
In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Tuesday in Abuja, Mr Adeogun said, “The agency facilitates trade and commerce at all levels and flow of information required to better peoples’ lives.
“It contributes to poverty reduction and eliminates needless journeys across borders.’’
He said that the agency had designed a `Strategic Road Map’ guided by the world postal strategy of the Universal Postal Union (UPU).
“Soon, the Nigeria Postal Service will be guided by the world postal strategy of the Universal Postal Union.''
He said that NIPOST would play a leading role in the implementation of the UN post-2015 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) agenda.
According to him, the strengthening of the agency's three dimensional network of physical, financial and digital platform would provide the agency diversification opportunities.
